From PCs with the required slots, the device can control a variety of backplanes, such as PXI/PXI Express, CompactPCI/CompactPCI Express, CompactRIO, or VXI. The ability to integrate many device types, including PXI, PXI Express, CompactRIO, PCI Express, and CompactPCI, into a single system increases the scalability and diversity of industrial automation configurations.
Control of a PXI or PXI Express chassis from a host PC is made easier with the MXI-Express x1 kit, which contains the 781394-01. This kit uses PCI Express switches or PCI Express-to-PCI bridges. Since the bridge design is transparent to device drivers, PXI or PXI Express devices within connected chassis can offer CompactPCI level operations without the need for extra software.
