National Instruments PXI-PCIe8361 MXI-Express Kit
The NI PXI-PCIe 8361 MXI-Express Kit (Part Number: 779505-03, 779505-30) belongs to the MXI-Express x1 series. This MXI-Express Kit is comprised of the following items: a PCIe-8361 MXI-Express Device for PXI Remote Control installed in a PC linked with a copper MXI-Express cable to a PXI-8360 module in slot 1 of a PXI chassis. The PXI-8360 PXI Remote Control Module cannot be utilized to link numerous PXI chassis. Although, the user can utilize MXI-4 to link several PXI chassis in a star or daisy-chain configuration in one system. Part number 779505-30 is the OEM version of the PXI-PCIe 8361.
The PXI-PCIe8361 offers one PCI Express link; the link has x1 lane width. The NI PXI-8360 module has a bridge that modifies the PCI Express link to the PCI bus utilized in PXI. Therefore, all PXI modules show up as PCI boards within the computer. The PCI Express models have software compatibility with PCI. The user does not have to alter their software, so they can utilize MXI-Express with an application written for a PXI system controlled through a PCI remote controller (ex: MXI-3 or MXI-4). Several PCIe-8361 boards can be utilized in a PC with a few PCI Express slots to add PXI chassis to a system.
The NI PXI-PCIe 8361 is a 1-port kit for Remote PCI Express Control of PXI. This kit can be used with a 3 meter cable or a 7 meter cable at the most. There are durable screw-in connectors on this model. The PCIe-8361 board of this MXI-Express Kit is a low-profile interface with regular brackets. The sustained throughput of the PXI-PCIe8361 is 110 MB/s for a single chassis, and 160 MB/s for 2 chassis.
The PXI-PCIe8361 is no longer available directly from National Instruments, but the MXI-Express Kit will remain available in perpetuity with Apex Waves for purchase or repairs.
