# National Instruments 778975-01 PXI Counter/Timer Module
The National Instruments 778975-01 (PXI-6624) is an eight-channel PXI counter/timer module designed for a wide range of timing, measurement, and control applications. It can be used for tasks such as event counting, frequency and period measurement, quadrature encoder position measurement, pulse-width measurement, and both simple and complex pulse-train generation.
The module provides 60 VDC channel-to-channel isolation across its I/O, helping protect connected equipment from unwanted current flow and ground-loop problems while improving measurement reliability in electrically noisy environments. This isolation makes the 778975-01 well suited to industrial applications where the measurement hardware may be exposed to higher levels of electrical noise or varying ground potentials.
The 778975-01 includes 26 digital input lines and 8 digital output lines to support its eight counter/timer channels. With a 32-bit counter resolution and a maximum frequency of 400 kHz, it can handle a variety of high-speed timing and data acquisition tasks. The module also supports advanced functions such as retriggerable pulse generation, two-signal edge-separation measurements, continuous buffering of measured events, and pulse-train generation.
