National Instruments 763061-01 X2 GPIB Cable
The National Instruments 763061-01 is a 1-meter long X2-type GPIB cable developed to provide high-quality instrument control in various Test & Measurement applications. The GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) was originally defined by the IEEE Standard 488-1975 and is used for providing a serial data connection to communicate between GPIB enabled devices and controller systems. Both ends of the cable have two 24 pin connectors, each containing one male and one female IEEE 488 plug. These connectors allow for stacking, thus allowing multiple devices to be connected to a common GPIB bus using no additional adapter hardware.
Shielding on both the outer jacket and the housing of the plugs/receptacles at both ends of the 763061-01 cable has been applied to significantly reduce Electromagnetic Interference (EMI). As a result, this cable can be successfully utilized in very EMI rich industrial and laboratory environments. Additionally, because the double shielding design maintains signal quality throughout its entire length, it is particularly well-suited for application in controlling sensitive measurement instruments such as oscilloscopes, signal generators, power supplies, multimeters, and spectrum analyzers. The "X2" designation indicates that this cable contains both male and female connectors, i.e., it can serve as either the beginning point of a GPIB cable chain or the branching point within a GPIB cable chain.
In practice, the X2 GPIB Cable part number 763061-01 will integrate directly into all National Instruments GPIB controller cards, USB-GPIB adapters, PXI instruments and other compatible third party IEEE 488 hardware. It is most frequently used in Automated Test Equipment (ATE), Semiconductor Characterization Benches, Production Line Verification Systems, Research Laboratory Instrumentation Racks and many others. In addition to being available in three different lengths (0.25m, 0.50m and 1m), the 1m version is specifically designed for compact bench configurations where instruments are placed very near to one another.
