# National Instruments 778959-30 MXI-Express Cable
The National Instruments 778959-30 is a 30-meter fiber-optic MXI-Express cable designed for high-speed communication between PXI and PXI Express systems. It provides a Gen 1 x1 connection between a host interface board, such as a PCI or PCI Express MXI-Express interface, and a remote PXI or PXI Express chassis. The cable can also be used to connect multiple chassis in a distributed, multi-chassis configuration, making it useful for larger test and measurement systems.
The 778959-30 features male LC/PC duplex connectors at both ends for connecting the optical link between compatible MXI-Express interfaces. Its 30-meter length allows the host computer and PXI chassis to be positioned well apart, which can be useful when test equipment needs to be installed in separate racks, isolated areas, or away from the host computer.
