National Instruments PXI-4204 PXI Analog Input Module

The National Instruments PXI-4204 (Part Number: 778745-4204) is a 16-Bit analog resolution, ±100 V Analog Input Module, designed to be utilized as a differential, simultaneous sampling module for PXI based systems. The device comes equipped with 8 differential analog input channels, with a maximum sample rate of 200 kS per second, a bandwidth of 6 Hz or 10 KHz 2-pole lowpass Butterworth filter response. This module comes featured with a broad input range and is an ideal choice for HV applications, such as 42 V automotive measurements. The device is equipped with DC input coupling. This product is from the National Instruments PXI-4200 Series of DAQ devices; thus, it provides application-specific signal conditioning, integrated field wiring connectivity, and DAQ in one product. In short, the NI PXI-4204 comes equipped with a signal conditioning circuitry that is designed to provide attenuation, SS/H capability, and amplification and filtering.

Each PXI-4204 channel front end comes equipped with a balanced divide-by-ten attenuator. This balanced attenuator backed by an instrumentation amplifier enables the NI PXI-4204 to precisely measure voltages up to ±100 V. Moreover, each channel also includes an analog multiplexer. With this multiplexer, the user can programmatically route internal test signals to the module’s instrumentation amplifier for self-test and self-calibration.  To enable SS/H, the user can enable the National Instruments PXI-4204 track-and-hold circuitry as well. This enables the user to acquire synced measurements through multiple channels. However, with SS/H disabled, this module utilizes a multiplexed architecture that allows measurements across multiple channels through a single ADC (analog-to-digital converter).

The NI PXI-4204 is offered with NI-DAQmx drivers precisely the NI-DAQ 7.0 or later versions, which simplifies the process of hardware configuration and measurement. The device is also compatible with application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, Measurement Studio. This Analog Input Module is a direct-connect device. The connection interface consists of 1 x SMB connector and 1 x 16-pin COMBICON connector. The device has a weight of 7.3 oz., with the dimensions: 8.39 x 5.12 x 0.79 in.

PXI-4204 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
