Equipped with an integrated MXI-Express controller, the chassis provides host PC connectivity and supports system bandwidth up to 250 MB/s. The 5-slot backplane features 3 PXI Express hybrid slots (compatible with PXI Express, CompactPCI Express, and hybrid-compatible PXI modules) and 2 dedicated PXI Express slots, offering flexible module integration within a rugged, low-noise footprint suitable for desktop or portable field deployments.
Powered by an integrated AC power supply, the unit accepts universal input voltages from 100 to 240 VAC (90 to 264 VAC operating range at 47 to 63 Hz) drawing 4 A to 2 A. The internal power supply maintains tight voltage regulation (below ±0.2% on the +3.3 V rail and ±0.1% on the +5 V and ±12 V rails) with an overall system efficiency exceeding 70% at full load. Total DC power distribution provides up to 15 A on the +3.3 V and +12 V rails, 7.5 A on the +5 V rail, 0.75 A on the -12 V rail, and 1.0 A on the +5 VAUX line. Comprehensive hardware protections safeguard installed instrumentation through continuous short-circuit protection and over-voltage trip points on the +3.3 V (3.76 V to 4.3 V), +5 V (5.74 V to 7.0 V), and +12 V (13.4 V to 15.6 V) outputs.
Thermal management for high-power modules is addressed by a 38.25 W per-slot cooling capacity supported by a bottom-to-top forced-air cooling design. Driven by an integrated 126 CFM fan with automatic and high-speed user profiles, ambient air is drawn through the chassis bottom and exhausted out the rear, right side, and top panels—ensuring optimal operating temperatures, long-term component reliability, and acoustically quiet performance across demanding test setups.
