National Instruments PXIe-8374 PXI Bus Extension Module
The PXIe-8374 (Part Number: 781820-04) is an advanced PXI Bus Extension Module from National Instruments. The NI PXIe-8374 can be used to daisy chain up to eight PXI systems to the same system computer. The PXIe-8374 allows the use of either a PXI Controller or PC as host system computer. The NI PXIe-8374 also allows remote control when a PC is connected to a device. The user can also extend a PXI system by connecting different devices, such as RAID Arrays and Software Defined Radio/Reconfigurable Radio Devices.
The PXIe-8374 is one of the first NI modules that can create multi-chassis PXI Express systems. This module is also among the first NI PXI Express remote-control modules. Engineers can interface multiple Chassis to a single host computer using any expansion topology. Interconnectivity and the architecture of the NI PXIe-8374 is very simple and industry-standard, which helps increase system efficiency and overall system performance.
The PXIe-8374 uses MXI-Express x4 links. MXI-Express links are software transparent, which means programming is not required for interconnections. This simplifies multi-chassis setup. Underlying communication technology for this module is cabled PCI Express. It offers high bandwidth and low latency. The maximum bandwidth of the PXIe-8374 is 1 GBps maximum. The NI PXIe-8374 supports star, line, and tree configurations. These features simplify the process of creating multi-chassis PXI systems. The driver for the PXIe-8374 module is supported for Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003/Vista/7/8/8.1/10.
