National Instruments PXIe-2532B PXI Matrix Switch Module

The NI PXIe-2532B (Part Number: 782383-01, 153875A-01L) is a 512-crosspoint, high-density matrix switch module. With the largest matrix size available in a 3U PXI slot, the NI PXIe-2532B provides ultra-high-density switching solutions in the PXI platform. With the ability to create up to a 4×128 or 8×64 one-wire matrix in a single module, and significantly larger configurations with multi-chassis setups, the PXIe-2532B is ideal for high-channel-count automated test applications. Featuring compact reed relays with switching speeds as fast as 2,000 cycles per second and the ability to synchronize with instruments, the NI PXIe-2532B enables maximum test throughput for signals up to 100 VDC/100 Vp or 0.5 A. The device has a maximum switching power of 10 W per channel, a channel-to-channel maximum switching voltage of 100 V, and a channel-to-ground maximum switching voltage of 100 V, CAT I.

If a matrix configuration larger than the standard NI PXIe-2532B topologies is required, users can utilize NI TB-264xB terminal blocks to extend the columns of two PXIe-2532B modules via an R1616 matrix expansion cable. For example, users can create a 4×256 one-wire matrix using two PXIe-2532B modules, two TB-2640B terminal blocks, and one R1616 expansion cable connected between the TB-2640B terminal blocks.

The PXIe-2532B has a simultaneous drive limit of 40 relays (PXI) and 64 relays (PXIe), a mechanical relay life of 1 × 10⁹ cycles, and an electrical relay life ranging from 1 × 10⁷ cycles (low power) to 5 × 10⁵ cycles (higher power switching). The module features two 150-position Samtec ERM8-EM series I/O connectors.

The PXIe-2532B is an ideal high-channel-count switching solution for connecting measurement or signal generation instruments to multiple test points on devices or units under test (DUTs or UUTs). The module supports more than 10 matrix topologies, offering flexibility when combined with compatible terminal block accessories.
