National Instruments 779132-01 PXI Sound and Vibration Module
The National Instruments 779132-01 (PXI-4462) is a four-channel dynamic signal acquisition module designed for sound, vibration, and other high-accuracy measurement applications. It provides simultaneous acquisition on all four channels with 24-bit resolution and supports sampling rates up to 204.8 kS/s, with selectable rates of 44.1, 48, 96, and 192 kS/s. Six gain settings, adjustable in 10 dB steps, provide input ranges from ±316 mV to 42.4 V. The module also supports software-selectable AC or DC coupling, a 3.4 Hz high-pass filter, and built-in IEPE circuitry for direct connection to compatible transducers. Front-panel connections are provided through three BNC connectors and one SMB connector.
The 779132-01 uses analog pre-filtering and digital anti-aliasing filters to reduce unwanted frequency components and prevent aliasing during acquisition. The digital filter automatically adjusts its cutoff frequency based on the selected sampling rate. The module provides signal flatness of ±0.1 dB from DC to 92 kHz and typically achieves total harmonic distortion of −107 dB at 1 kHz, making it suitable for accurate waveform measurements.
Triggering can be configured using analog or digital sources from any input channel, the external trigger, or the PXI bus. Programmable edge detection can also be used to capture transient events, including measurements made with an impact hammer during vibration testing.
With a dynamic range of 118 dB and a low noise floor, the 779132-01 is designed for measurements where both low-level signals and wide signal ranges must be captured accurately. Multiple modules can be synchronized with phase mismatch of less than 0.1°, allowing several acquisition modules to be used together in larger measurement systems.
The 779132-01 is supported by NI-DAQmx software and can be integrated with LabVIEW and other supported development environments for custom data acquisition and analysis. Typical applications include audio verification, automotive noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) testing, rotating machinery monitoring, resonance testing, and transient vibration measurements.
