The National Instruments 779199-04 (PXI-1050) is a PXI/SCXI combination chassis that integrates PXI instrumentation with SCXI signal conditioning in a single system. It operates from a nominal 240 VAC supply at 50/60 Hz and supports an input frequency range of 47 to 63 Hz, making it suitable for a variety of power systems.
The chassis provides a 10 MHz PXI_CLK10 reference clock for synchronizing installed PXI modules. The clock has an accuracy of ±25 ppm, with a maximum slot-to-slot skew of 250 ps. External timing references can be connected through either the rear-panel BNC connector or the Slot 2 J2 interface, providing flexibility when synchronizing the chassis with other equipment.
The 779199-04 combines PXI module slots with four integrated SCXI slots. This configuration allows data acquisition and measurement modules to be used alongside SCXI signal-conditioning modules for functions such as multiplexing, filtering, isolation, and amplification. The internal PXI/SCXI connections reduce the need for external cabling between the measurement hardware and signal-conditioning modules, simplifying system installation.
The chassis is designed for use in demanding test environments and has been tested for functional shock levels of up to 30 g peak using a half-sine waveform in accordance with IEC 60068-2-27. Multiple chassis can also be connected to expand the number of available measurement channels.
Typical applications include high-channel-count measurement of voltage, resistance, thermocouples, strain gauges, accelerometers, RTDs, and LVDT sensors. The 779199-04 can be configured and monitored using NI software such as Measurement & Automation Explorer and LabVIEW, making it suitable for automated test, industrial measurement, and data acquisition systems.
