National Instruments SCXI-1338 Current Input Terminal Block

The NI SCXI-1338 (Part Number: 777687-38) can be used with the SCXI-1120, SCXI-1120D, SCXI-1125, or SCXI-1126 module. This Terminal Block can be mounted to the front of the SCXI module and is shielded for swift, simple signal connections. The SCXI-1338 8-Channel Current Input Terminal Block is well-suited for high-precision current measurements. Every input has a 249 Ohm precision resistor, enabling the user to read 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA current inputs. There are 18 screw terminals on this Terminal Block, which allows for simple connection. Eight pairs of the screw terminals are utilized for signal connection to the eight module inputs, while the remaining pair of terminals links to the SCXI chassis ground. The device has a maximum working voltage of 300 Vrms or ±300 VDC.

The National Instruments SCXI-1338 Terminal Block can measure current and voltage sources. While measuring voltage signals, the user must get rid of the current-loop resistor for that specific input channel. The user can recognize the resistor for a certain channel by its reference designator, which matches the channel the resistor is across. As an example, input channel 0 has resistor R0 across the channel.

The NI SCXI-1338 Current Input Terminal Block can be calibrated. Since this model is not user-adjustable, calibrating the SCXI 1338 will solely confirm the performance. Calibration verifies that the Terminal Block is operating within the NI standards. This Terminal Block should be calibrated a minimum of once per year, but can be calibrated every 90 days or six months depending on the demands of the user’s application.

The following items are required to setup and use the SCXI-1338 terminal block:

·         A SCXI chassis

·         One of the following–SCXI-1120, SCXI-1120D, SCXI-1125, and SCXI-1126.

·         Number 1 and 2 Phillips-head screwdriver

·         A 1/8 in. flathead screwdriver

·        Long-nose pliers

·         A wire cutter

·        Wire insulation stripper

The NI device weighs 7 oz, and measures 7.000 x 3.125 x 1.200 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%.

SCXI-1338 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Terminal Block will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
