National Instruments SCXI-1366 Terminal Block

The NI SCXI-1366 (Part Number: 777687-66) is designed to be installed on the front of the SCXI-1166 Switch Module and is meant for general-purpose switching applications. There are screw terminals on the Terminal Block that offer access to the 32 relays. There are connections for the trigger output and trigger input signals as well. The user can link signal wires to the screw terminals by placing the stripped side of the wire inside the terminal.

To use the SCXI-1366 terminal block, you need the following: a SCXI chassis, a SCXI-1166 switch module, a number 2 Phillips-head screwdriver, a 1/8 inch flathead screwdriver, a wire insulation stripper, and a wire cutter.

The NI SCXI 1366 Terminal Block is rated for Measurement Category I and created to carry signal voltages to 150 V maximum. This Terminal Block can endure 800 V impulse voltage maximum. However, this model should not be utilized for linking to signals or completing measurements within Categories II, III, or IV. In addition, the SCXI-1366 cannot be linked to MAINS supply circuits of 115 or 230 VAC.

A few safety precautions to take when handling the NI SCXI-1366 include: not touching the exposed pins of connectors, grounding yourself with a grounding strap or holding a grounded item, and touching the antistatic package to a metal part of the chassis before taking the SCXI-1366 out of the package. It is also recommended to keep the Terminal Block in an antistatic package when it is not being used.

To link the SCXI-1366 to the SCXI-1166, the user must first join the Terminal Block's front connectors to the matching connectors on the module. Then, tighten the top and bottom thumbscrews on the rear of the terminal block. When connected to the SCXI-1166, the device can be programmed using software packages or application development environments (ADEs) such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio.

SCXI-1366 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Terminal Block will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
