SCXI-1166, 32 Channel, Non-Latching Relays, General-Purpose Switch Module
National Instruments SCXI-1166 General-Purpose Switch Module
The NI SCXI-1166 (Part Number: 776572-66) has 32 channels, non-latching relays, is completely software programmable, and a maximum cycle speed of 115 operations per second. This module can switch 2 A at 30 VAC/30 VDC maximum and can carry 5 A for each channel. The electromechanical relays on the NI SCXI-1166 have extremely low on-resistance and low thermal offsets. Therefore, this Switch Module is well-suited for switching and routing high-current signals. Every relay channel on the module has a normally closed (NC), normally open (NO), and common (COM) terminal. The SCXI-1166 General-Purpose Switch Module has a 32,000-step scan list meant for deterministic scanning. It has a bandwidth (-3 dB) of ≥70 MHz.
The SCXI 1166 can be used with the SCXI-1366 Terminal Block, a connector and back-shell kit (Part Number: 778720-01), or any 62 pin D-Sub connector (the device is equipped with two 62-pin D-SUB male I/O connector). The SCXI-1366 Terminal Block installs on the front of the module with screw terminals that deliver access to the 32 relays on the module. In addition, there are links for the trigger output and trigger input signals. The user can link signal wires to the screw terminals by placing the stripped part of the wire into the terminal. The device has a power requirement of 6.3 W at ±18.5 V, and 200 mW at 5 V.
This General-Purpose Switch Module can be used with Windows 2000/NT/XP operating systems. A variety of software packages/application development environments (ADEs) are suggested for use with the SCXI-1166 module. They are: the NI Switch Executive, Measurement Studio, LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, and LabVIEW Real-Time Module software. Other types of compatible software include Visual Basic and C/C++. This module can be used with the NI-SWITCH driver software and complies with CE. The NI device weighs 10 oz, and measures 1.2 x 6.7 x 7.6 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 °C to 70 °C, and a non-condensing humidity range of 5% to 85%.
SCXI-1166 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
