PCIe-8510, 2- or 4-Port, Vehicle Multi-Protocol Interface Device
National Instruments PCIe-8510 Vehicle Multi-Protocol Interface Device
The National Instruments PCIe-8510 (Part numbers: 785325-01 and 785324-01) is a PCI Express based Vehicle Multi-Protocol Interface Device available in 2-port and 4-port versions. This model comes with dual functionality since it can be used as a local interconnect network interface or controller area network interface. This model is quite helpful in applications where the high-speed manipulation of thousands of signals and CAN frames is required on a real-time basis. Moreover, this model can also be considered for rapid control prototyping, automation control, bus monitoring, and more.
The NI PCIe-8510 is offered with the NI-XNET DMA engine that enables the integrated processor to transmit signals and CAN frames between the user program and the interface without CPU involvement. Thus, it helps in cutting down CPU interrupts. This Vehicle Multi-Protocol Interface Device features 7 input/output trigger lines and 1 input/output clock line. On the front panel (applicable to the 4-port version only), the user can access 2 input/output sync connectors as well.
In addition, the National Instruments PCIe-8510 is fully compatible with TTL. The input voltage limits are 6.5 V (max) and -0.5 V (min). Another brilliant feature included in this model is the hardware selectable, NI-XNET interface port. This NI-XNET Host Port supports NI-XNET transceiver cables (CAN/LIN). The 2-port version of the NI PCIe-8510 requires 2.2 and 2.7 watts of power at +3.3 and +12 Volts respectively. However, the 4-port version draws 3.0 and 4.1 watts of maximum power from +3.3 and +12 Volt rails while operating in typical conditions.
