National Instruments WSN-3230 Serial Interface Node for WSN

The National Instruments WSN-3230 (Part Numbers: 781637-02781637-12, and 152945C-04L) is a Serial Interface Node for Wireless Sensor Networks. This Serial Interface Node offers an RS232 port. The NI WSN-3230 can be used with serial instruments, sensors, and control boards. This Serial Interface Node comes with the output of a device-powered sensor channel, which can provide up to 50 mA of current at 12 V. The sensor output channel can be utilized to deliver the required power to external devices or sensors.  

The National Instruments WSN-3230 Serial Interface Node is considered a versatile solution when it comes to wireless sensor networks. You can also use this Serial Interface Node as an intermediate router to expand your network. The wireless mode communicates with the wireless gateway through an integrated 2.4 GHz radio. The WSN gateways are connected to the host controller or the host PC through LAN. The NI WSN-3230 and other devices from National Instruments WSN family offer wireless transmission of acquired data and measurements on a real-time basis in industrial environments. Thus, you can consider this networking infrastructure for process automation and control when you don’t want to lay cabled control loops.

The WSN-3230 can be powered in two ways: by 4 AA size batteries or an external, AC power supply. Thus, the NI WSN-3230 can be utilized in environments where a regular AC power supply is not available. The power consumption of this Serial Interface Node depends upon multiple factors. However, you can operate your device for two to three years with new batteries. This Serial Interface Node is recommended to be operated on an external power supply in the presence of both supplies.

WSN-3230 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the serial interface node will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
