National Instruments NI-9157 CompactRIO Chassis
The National Instruments NI-9157 (Part Number: 781316-01) is a 14-Slot, CompactRIO Chassis. This model features a Virtex-5 LX85 FPGA and an MXI-Express interface. This model allows users to add C Series I/O modules to their industrial PC or PXI system. Users can daisy-chain up to six NI MXI-Express RIO models to build a chain and eight such chains can be coupled with one controller.
This Chassis brings various power-up options. The power-up options determine how the Chassis reacts when it is powered on in various scenarios. As an example, consider the power up option "Do Not Autoload VI." This option inhibits the loading of FPGA bitstream from memory. However, "Autoload VI on device power-up" is an option that allows the loading of FPGA bitstream from memory when the Chassis is supplied with power.
The National Instruments NI-9157 relies on a compatible external power supply for filtering and regulating the supplied power before routing it to each attached I/O module. This Chassis comes with redundant pairs of V and C terminals and is designed to draw power from the power supply offering a higher voltage. The NI-9157 features an integrated reverse-voltage protection feature as well.
This Chassis comes with a NO FPGA APP Switch that can be used to prevent LabVIEW FPGA applications from loading while the model starts up. The NO FPGA APP Switch overrides the powerup options of the Chassis. The NI-9157 has various LEDs, including 1 Power and 3 User FPGA LEDs. The power LED is a bi-color LED that goes green when the Chassis is powered from V1 and turns yellow when the Chassis draws power from V2.
