National Instruments FP-DIO-550 Digital I/O Module

The FP-DIO-550 is a 16-channel FieldPoint Digital I/O Module designed by National Instruments. The NI FP-DIO-550 is also available under part number 777518-550. This module has 8 input digital channels which are compatible with sourcing, sinking, and differential devices, as well as 8 sourcing digital output channels. Each input channel has two terminals indicating IN- and IN+. This Digital I/O Module’s current limiting circuitry has the capability to limit the flow of current to 7 mA. There is also short circuit protection at the output under -40°C to 70° C operating temperature.

The FP-DIO-550 module has a feature of 5 s dielectric withstand test under 250 Vrms CAT-II continuous channel to ground isolation which is verified by 2,300 Vrms. The operating power provided to the module is provided by the FieldPoint Terminal Base (FP-TB-x) on which the FP-DIO-550 is mounted. The connections for the input and output channels of the Digital I/O Module are provided by the FieldPoint Terminal Base (FP-TB-x). The connection for the NI FP-DIO-550 can be provided by the FieldPoint Connector Box (FP-CB-x).

When the input terminal voltage for any channel is below 5 V, the channel will be in the off state. If the voltage range is between 5 V to 11 V, the channel may be in the off or on state. Between 11 V to 30 V, the channels will be in the on state. For the system safety ground, the protective earth ground terminal should be connected on the FieldPoint Backplane (FP-BPx).
