The National Instruments PXI-6232 (Part number: 779618-01) is a 16-Bit, 2 AO, 6 DI, Bank Isolated, Sourcing DO, PXI Multifunction I/O Module. Since it is a bank-isolated DAQ device, the NI PXI-6232 can be considered an ideal solution for voltage I/O. This module features digital input, analog I/O, sourcing digital output, digital triggering, as well as redundant 32-bit counters. The digital I/O are compatible with 24 V signals. The National Instruments PXI-6232 offers an optimum combination of safety and performance advantages of isolation with precisely controlled high-performance timing, calibration technology, and amplification to provide accurate measurements.

This module is considered an ideal solution for control, design, test, and measurement applications in environments with electrical noise and high voltages. Moreover, with this module, the user can read from proximity sensors, encoders, flow meters, relays, control valves, and even pumps. The National Instruments PXI-6232 offers 16 single-ended or 8 differential channels of voltage input type, with 16 bits of ADC resolution and AI GND ground reference. The maximum sample rate that can be achieved through this Multifunction I/O Module is 250 KS/s. This model also offers 50 ppm timing accuracy and 50 ns timing resolution.

The NI PXI-6232 has two analog output channels with 500 kS/s and 450 kS/s per channel maximum update rate on a single channel and both channels respectively. The output channels of this device can only be operated in DC coupling mode.  The integrated counters on this PXI Multifunction I/O Module can be programmed for pulse, period, edge counting, and two-edge separation measurements.
