The National Instruments 788302-10 is a high-performance, 10-meter fiber optic MXI-Express cable designed to establish high-bandwidth PCI Express link extensions between a host PC or master controller and a remote PXI Express chassis. Compliant with PCIe Gen3 x8 communication standards, the cable utilizes full-duplex optical signal transmission across a duplex multimode fiber core, allowing simultaneous bidirectional data transfer. Because data is transmitted purely via light signals, the assembly provides complete electromagnetic interference (EMI) immunity and complete electrical/ground-loop isolation, making it ideal for low-noise measurement setups and electrically noisy industrial environments.

Constructed as a reinforced optical cable, the 788302-10 features a ruggedized outer jacket designed to protect internal multimode fibers from bending stress, abrasion, and crushing forces typically encountered when routing cables through dense equipment racks. Each end terminates in a specialized MXI optical connector with a keyed profile and directional labeling ("Host" and "Target") to ensure precise alignment and correct orientation during insertion cycles into host PCIe interface cards and peripheral PXI Express chassis modules.

Spanning a 10 m (32.8 ft) length for flexible distant chassis placement, the cable maintains low-latency, deterministic PCIe link stability across an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 50 °C (-20 °C to 70 °C storage). Protective dust caps on both connector ends shield the optical fiber faces against dust, moisture, and particle contamination during storage and handling to ensure consistent, low-loss signal integrity across extended deployments.
