The National Instruments 781622-01 PXI Chassis serves as an identifying part number for the PXIe 1078 Model series. Engineered with versatility in mind, this chassis accommodates a variety of test and measurement applications, integrating a PCI Express connection to every slot on its backplane.
The 781622-01 is made to accommodate up to nine slots and is compatible with PXI-1/CompactPCI hybrid slot-compatible modules, 3U PXI Express, and Compact PCI Express. Its architecture consists of five hybrid peripheral slots connected via a PCI Express switch, allowing x1 links to the system through an x4 connection, and three PXI Express peripheral slots directly linked to the system slot via x1 connections. Additionally, a 32-bit, 33 MHz PCI link is included in each hybrid slot.
Control and processing units can be seamlessly integrated with this chassis due to its compatibility with a 4-slot wide PXI Express embedded controller. It may be used in a variety of industrial environments due to its compact and robust construction and universal AC input. The chassis has an auto/high temperature-controlled fan speed mechanism to effectively dissipate heat and minimize noise while maintaining optimal operating conditions.
For enhanced usability, the 781622-01 is rack-mountable and optionally equipped with a carrying handle for portability. Its AC input supports a voltage range of 100 to 240 VAC, with an operating range of 90 to 264 VAC. Stable power delivery at different voltages is ensured by the extensive line regulation found in the chassis. Its efficiency rating of 70% on average further optimizes energy use in demanding applications.
In terms of power output, the 781622-01 provides ample resources for connected modules. It provides dependable power distribution to satisfy system requirements, with maximum currents of 28.5 A for +3.3 V, 26.5 A for +5 V, and 22.0 A for +12 V. Additionally, the chassis features facilities for 5 VAUX and -12 VAUX outputs, which may supply currents of 0.75 A and 1.5 A, respectively.
The chassis has an effective cooling system with a 38.25 W per-slot cooling capability. Effective heat dissipation from modules is ensured by forced air circulation, which is made possible by two 150 CFM fans with a High/Auto speed choice. With the cooling intake located at the bottom of the chassis and the exhaust coming through the right side, back, and top, the airflow direction is bottom-up. Integrated fans in the power supply cooling system pull air in from the left and front and release it via the back.
