Front-panel connectivity features two 10/100/1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet ports, two high-speed USB 3.0 ports, and four USB 2.0 ports for seamless integration with local network infrastructure and peripheral equipment. Hardware security and cryptographic key protection are backed by an integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM v1.2). Occupying a four-wide 3U PXI Express footprint (requiring one system slot plus three expansion controller slots), the unit weighs 1.5 kg (3.4 lb) and efficiently routes high-speed data links across multiple chassis hybrid slots without consuming measurement instrument slots.
Power distribution from the PXI backplane includes typical current draws of 2.24 A at +3.3 V (2.96 A max), 2.44 A at +5 V (3.11 A max), 6.5 A at +12 V (8.7 A max), and 0.19 A on the +5 V auxiliary rail (0.23 A max). Designed for extreme operational reliability, the PXIe-8880 complies with MIL-PRF-28800F Class 3 environmental limits (with noted exceptions) and IEC 60068-2-56 standards for non-condensing relative humidity (10% to 90%). The controller maintains full functional performance at operating altitudes up to 2,000 meters (800 mbar) at 25 °C ambient temperatures with chassis cooling fans set to High, delivering server-class processing power in a compact instrumentation form factor.
