National Instruments PXIe-6544 PXIe Digital Waveform Generator/Analyzer

The 100 MHz, 32-channel, 3.3 V PXIe-6544 (Part Numbers: 780992-02, 780992-03, and 196524C-02L) is a PXI Express (PXIe) Digital Waveform Generator and Analyzer, designed to generate and analyze digital signals with high accuracy and flexibility. This module provides bidirectional control of 32 digital lines, allowing users to configure channels for simultaneous generation and acquisition.

The PXIe-6544 can generate and acquire waveforms at clock rates up to 100 MHz and supports multiple logic families, including 1.2 V, 1.5 V, 1.8 V, 2.5 V, and 3.3 V (but not 5V TTL). The module features advanced synchronization capabilities, enabling integration into mixed-signal test systems and precise digital timing control per bank. The onboard 800 MHz VCO with a 32-bit Direct Digital Synthesis (DDS) clock allows sub-hertz resolution up to 100 MHz, providing accurate timing without requiring an external clock.

Users can stream data at rates of up to 660 MB/s to host memory and 400 MB/s from host memory, making the PXIe-6544 suitable for high-speed digital test applications. This module is often used for digital signal processing, custom protocol testing, and functional verification of digital electronics. It can also be used in LCD and TV component testing, RF baseband applications, and digital video signal generation and acquisition, but it does not include built-in video-specific interfaces such as HDMI or DVI.

The PXIe-6544 includes an onboard 1 MB, 8 MB, or 64 MB per-channel memory configuration, ensuring flexible waveform storage and generation. It features three SMA connectors (CLK IN, CLK OUT, and PFI 0) and a 68-pin VHDCI connector for digital I/O. The device operates using the NI-HSDIO driver, which is compatible with LabVIEW, LabWindows™/CVI™, and other programming environments.

The NI PXIe-6544 is designed for PXI Express (PXIe) Peripheral Slots, ensuring high-speed data transfer within PXIe chassis. It is not compatible with standard PXI or hybrid slots. It weighs 18.3 oz (519 g) and has physical dimensions of 21.6 × 2.0 × 13.0 cm.
