National Instruments PCIe-7846 Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device

Featured with 500 kS/s Sampling Rate, 8 Analog Input, 8 Analog Output and 48 Digital Input/output Channels, the NI PCIe-7846 (Part Number: 786456-01) is a Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device. This device is designed for PCI Express Slots. Thus, the user can plug the device into an empty slot available in a Windows-based personal computer. The NI PCIe-7846 requires one PCIe slot; it does not require an additional power supply because it draws the required power from the PCIe bus.

The analog input channels of this device can be operated in either DIFF, RSE, or NRSE input modes. These modes are software-selectable; the selected mode applies to all channels. For data acquisition through its analog input channels, the NI PCIe-7846 utilizes dedicated, SAR ADC, designed to operate at 16 bits resolution and 2 µs conversion time.

This Multifunction Reconfigurable I/O Device offers integrated overvoltage protection on all the analog input channels. The 8 analog output channels on this device are single-ended, voltage outputs with 16 bits of resolution, 1 μs update time, and 1 MS/s maximum update rate. For digital-to-analog conversion, an enhanced R-2R DAC is incorporated.

The NI PCIe 7846 device can also be coupled with an External Clock. The reconfigurable FPGA utilized in this device is a Kintex-7 160T. The FPGA comes with 202,800 flip-flops, 101,400 LUTs, and 11,700 kbits of embedded block RAM. This device has 16 DMA channels. The PCIe-7846 is built to operate in compliance with PCIe specification version 1.0.
