National Instruments PXI-7952R PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO

The NI PXI-7952R (Part Number: 780561-01, 199119C-01L) is a PXI FPGA Module for FlexRIO. This module comes featured with 128 MB of DRAM and a Virtex-5 LX50 FPGA. The PXI-7952R includes 132 single-ended FPGA Digital Input/Output Channels. These channels can also be configured as 66 differential pairs or as a combination of both types. The combination of a FlexRIO Adapter Module and the NI PXI-7952 results in a reconfigurable instrument. The PXI-7952R can, however, be utilized without an adapter module for peer-to-peer streaming or coprocessing.

The FPGA incorporated in this module has 40 MHz default timebase and offers 28,800 LUTs, 48 DSP48 Slices 1,728 Kbits of embedded Block RAM, 3 DMA channels, and 32 DMA interrupt channels. While operating in a single-ended configuration, the highest data transfer rate that can be achieved with this device is 400 Mb/s.

 This FPGA Module for FlexRIO is offered in the x4 PXI Express form factor and is compatible with x16, x8 and x4 simple PXI Express or hybrid PXI Express slots. Thus, the user can place this module in a variety of PXI Chassis.  If the user is utilizing a PXI Express Chassis, they can place the PXI-7952R in the PXI slots. For I/O connections, a high-density card edge connector can be utilized. The NI PXI-7952R comes with 2 independently accessible banks for onboard DRAM. Each bank supports 64 MB. The DRAM incorporated in this module has 800 MB/s theoretical data rate per bank with 2 banks.

PXI-7952 Mature Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the module will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
