National Instruments SCXI-1308 Current Input Terminal Block

The SCXI-1308 (Part Number: 777687-08) 32-Channel Terminal Block is shielded with 78 screw terminals that can be joined to the following modules: the SCXI-1102/B/C and the SCXI-1100 modules. There are 32 precision resistors of 249 Ω that can change current to voltage when measuring 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA process current sources. The SCXI module being used with the SCXI-1308 then measures the voltage, allowing the data acquisition board obtains the voltage. Thirty-two pairs of screw terminals can be joined to the 32 differential inputs of the SCXI modules. A single pair of terminals can be linked to the module’s chassis ground pins. Three terminals link to the SCXI module OUTPUT and AOREF pins, along with the SCXIbus guard. The remaining terminals are saved for operation in the future.

To arrange and operate the NI SCXI 1308 Terminal Block, there are several required items: the Installation Guide, an SCXI chassis, the SCXI-1102/B/C or SCXI-1100 module, No. 1 and No. 2 Philips-head screwdrivers, and 1/10 inch and ¼ inch flathead screwdrivers. The installation process involves linking the Terminal Block to the SCXI module’s front connector, then tightening the bottom and top thumbscrews on the rear of the SCXI-1308 to make sure it is secure.

The SCXI 1308 Current Input Terminal Block can convert current to voltage, then measure the voltage and the data acquisition board obtains the voltage. The voltage measured for a 4 to 20 mA current source will fall between 0.996 to 4.98 VDC. The NI SCXI-1308 has the capability to measure current and voltage sources. While measuring voltage signals, the user should remove the current-loop resistor for that specific input channel. It has channel-to-channel and channel-to-earth voltages of up to 30 Vrms and 42.4 Vpeak or 60 VDCs. The NI device has an operating temperature range of 0° to 50° C, a storage temperature range of –20° to 70° C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 5% to 90%.

SCXI-1308 Obsolete Status has been announced by National Instruments, but the Terminal Block will still be available for purchase and repairs by Apex Waves.
