Keysight/Agilent E8403A C-Size VXI Mainframe
The Keysight E8403A is a C-size VXI mainframe designed for industrial automation and high-performance test system integration. It provides 13 slots to accommodate a full range of VXI instrument modules in compact configurations. It delivers 1000 W of usable power across an input voltage range of 110 to 264 Vac. It supports continuous operation across a full temperature range of 0 to 55 degrees Celsius.
The mainframe accepts a wide input voltage range of 90 to 264 Vac as a single continuous range. The input frequency operation is supported from 47 to 66 Hz across the complete operating voltage range. The total available power output of the model reaches 1902 W when operating within the full 90 to 264 Vac range. The usable power output is derated to 950 W at a lower input of 90 to 110 Vac. The inrush current for the mainframe is rated at 40 A typical at a 100 VAC input. At a 264 Vac input, the inrush current is rated at 70 A typical under standard operating conditions.
The Keysight E8403A incorporates a precisely engineered cooling system built for quiet and efficient thermal management. The back pressure performance ensures consistent airflow penetration through dense module configurations within the chassis. The airflow enters through the rear and exits from the sides for effective and reliable heat dissipation. This directional airflow design allows multiple mainframes to be stacked or rack-mounted directly on top of one another. Separate power supply cooling fans within the model provide an independent air path for reliable power supply cooling. The fan operation is selectable between variable speed and full speed modes using a two-position front panel switch.
The Keysight E8403A is equipped with basic monitoring to support standard system oversight in automated test environments. All power supply voltages are fully protected against overtemperature, overvoltage, overcurrent, and short-to-ground fault conditions. The protection mode initiates a complete system shutdown upon detection of any active fault condition within the mainframe. The recovery is achieved by first removing the fault condition and then cycling the power on and off and the standby switch.
