National Instruments 781290-01 Digital I/O Adapter Module  

Part Number 781290-01 is the identifying part number for the National Instruments NI-6584 Digital I/O Adapter Module. This RS-485/422 adapter module is designed to work with the NI FlexRIO FPGA module. Likewise, it makes use of the LabVIEW software to design a variety of FPGA-based applications. 

The RS-485/422 channels in the 781290-01 feature a single VHDCI (very-high-density cable interconnect) connector with 68 pins. There are 16 data channels, each with TX and RX capabilities. The maximum input differential voltage is 5V and the maximum data rate is 16 Mbits/s per channel. Likewise, the characteristic impedance for the channel is 100 Ω differential nominal whereas the termination impedance is 100 Ω differential nominal for terminated devices and unterminated devices are open. 

The Clock/PFI channels in the 781290-01 feature 2 BNC connectors and a maximum clock rate of 16 MHz. The I/O type for the channel is 1 clock, and 1 single-ended PFI. The module also allows direction control of clock/PFI channels in each channel. The characteristic impedance and output impedance are both 50 Ω nominal whereas the input impedance is 50 kΩ nominal. For input voltages, the high voltage threshold is 2.5 V whereas the low voltage threshold is 0.8V. Similarly, for output voltages at 100 µA load, the high minimum is 3.0 V whereas the low maximum is 0.1 V. Furthermore, the power requirements from the NI FlexRIO FPGA module are 100 mA, 1.2 W max at +12V and 500 mA, 1.65W max at +3.3 V. 

The 781290-01 measures 5.2 × 0.8 × 5.1 inches in physical dimensions and weighs 10.5 oz. Likewise, the module is only intended for indoor use at an operating temperature range of 0 °C to 55 °C and a relative humidity range of 10% to 90%. Before use, make sure that the device is completely dry. The ideal storage temperature range is between -20°C and 70°C, with a relative humidity between 5% and 95%.
