Driven by an Intel Core i7-3610QE quad-core processor operating at a 2.3 GHz base frequency (up to 3.3 GHz Single-Core Intel Turbo Boost), the controller features 256 KB of dedicated L2 cache per core alongside a 6 MB shared L3 cache. To deliver flexible data management and rapid real-time processing, the architecture supports both dual-channel 1600 MHz DDR3 RAM (4 GB standard, scaling up to 16 GB maximum) and single-channel DDR3 configurations (4 GB standard, up to 8 GB maximum). Persistent storage is anchored by a high-capacity 250 GB or larger Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive.
To enable multi-chassis routing and high-bandwidth instrument communication, the backplane interface supports a 4-link PXI Express configuration (x4, x4, x4, x4) as well as a 2-link setup (x8, x8), achieving total system bandwidth up to 8 GB/s. Full PXI Express trigger bus input and output functionality ensures precise synchronization across installed instrumentation modules. Front-panel peripheral connectivity includes two 10/100/1000Base-TX Gigabit Ethernet ports, an integrated PCI-based IEEE 488 (GPIB) controller, one RS-232 serial port, one parallel port, four Hi-Speed USB 2.0 ports, two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports, and an ExpressCard/34 expansion slot for adding specialized interface modules or removable storage.
Designed as a four-wide 3U PXI Express module (occupying one system slot plus three controller expansion slots) with a typical weight of 1.30 kg (2.87 lb), the controller draws power directly across standard backplane rails: 3.75 A typical (5.4 A maximum) at 3.3 V, 1.5 A typical (2.0 A maximum) at 5 V, 3.5 A typical (5.0 A maximum) at 12 V, and 0.3 A typical (0.4 A maximum) on the 5 V auxiliary supply rail. Built for rugged industrial environments, the module operates reliably across a temperature range of 5 °C to 50 °C (-40 °C to 65 °C storage) with non-condensing relative humidity tolerances of 10% to 90%, withstanding operational mechanical shocks up to 30 g peak (11 ms half-sine pulse).
