Keysight E8491A PC Link to VXI
Through the IEEE-1394 interface, also known as FireWire, a PC may be directly connected to a VXI mainframe with the Keysight E8491A PC Link to VXI. It is a C-size, message-based, single-slot VXI module. This product offers an affordable option for applications requiring high-speed data collection, particularly for the transmission of big data blocks. The E8491A becomes a cost-effective and effective option for a range of test applications when combined with the Keysight E8400 mainframe series.
Up to 16 mainframes can be connected to a single PC using the C-size VXI Slot 0 module and 4.5-meter cable that come with the Keysight E8491A. Because just one E8491A is needed for each VXI mainframe—which can be connected in daisy-chain or star configurations to further reduce overall system costs—this design is especially advantageous for systems with numerous mainframes. Enhancing usability and flexibility, the hot plug-in function enables simple configuration and immediate detection of new IEEE-1394-based devices without requiring the PC to be powered down.
The E8491A supports Windows 95 and Windows NT 32-bit environments and comes with extensive SICL/VISA I/O library software in addition to clock and triggering features. Enabling robust command processing for a wide range of applications, the interface is built to accommodate 32-bit Interpreted SCPI (I-SCPI). To ensure accurate data handling and communication, this module also has timing and triggering functions that make it easier to synchronize with external devices or mainframes.
