National Instruments SCC-CTR01 Isolated Counter/Timer Module

The National Instruments SCC-CTR01 (Part Number: 779474-01) is a general purpose SCC signal conditioning module with up to 48 VDC input voltage range for compatible I/O devices and modules. This model is special because it can also bring isolation for the general-purpose counters. The NI SCC-CTR01 requires an appropriate cable, an SCC-2345 Carrier, and a multifunction I/O module or device. A maximum of two SCC-CTR01 units can be used per SCC-2345 Carrier.

The National Instruments SCC-CTR01 Counter/Timer Module features an advanced protection mechanism for short circuits. The output is turned off automatically if the current at the output exceeds a predefined limit (800 mA typical, 1.1 A max). After undergoing a protective operation, the NI SCC-CTR01 tries to re-operate at an interval of 250 ms and recovers automatically after the fault condition is removed. In addition, this module also has an adequate and integrated protection for overvoltage. In its standard configuration, this module protects up to ±60 VDC between Vss and Vdd and the output and Vss.

The NI SCC-CTR01 comes with 2 input channels and can operate at 400 kHz maximum input frequency and 1 μs maximum input pulse width. This module tends to ensure 60 VDC, continuous input-to-output, input-to-input, and input-to-PC ground isolation. This module can handle any input waveform. Furthermore, the National Instruments SCC-CTR01 Isolated Counter/Timer Modules supplies 2.5 V typical ON voltage, 4.1 V guaranteed ON voltage, and 0.8 V guaranteed off voltage. This module’s ON state current remains around 6 mA typical. It is equipped with one 20-pin right-angle male connector and one 7-pin screw terminal.

The SCC-CTR01 is run using the NIDAQmx driver software which can be programmed using application development environments or software packages such as LabVIEW, LabWindows/CVI, or Measurement Studio. It can be configured using the Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) tool.

The SCC-CTR01 weighs 1.0 oz, and measures 3.50 x 1.15 x 0.73 in. in physical dimensions. It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of –20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10 to 90%.
